H.E. President of Kuwaiti Civil Aviation: Contracting with a Dutch company to advance the work in the Meteorology & Navigation Equipment Department, at the airport
H.E. President of Civil Aviation Shaikh Salman Sabah Salem Al-Homoud Al-Sabah said that Civil Aviation has signed a contract with a Dutch company for consultancy services related to managing and supervising the implementation of meteorological projects and navigation equipment at Kuwait International Airport, at a value of nearly 10.19 Million Kuwaiti Dinars (approx. US. Dollars 33.6 Million). In his statement to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), Sheikh Salman Al-Homoud explained that the five-year contract provides for the improvement of work procedures in the Meteorology & Navigation Equipment Departments at the airport, as well as upgrading the technical guidelines to ensure raising the work level to be in line with the progress in the air-transport projects in Kuwait and also the air-carriage traffic in the aviation world. He stated that this contract will contribute towards improving the navigation capabilities, particularly after the addition of new runways and control tower to support the air-traffic capacity, and in preparation for inaugurating the Main Airport (T2). He added that the development and follow-up of meteorology systems and projects as well as the navigation equipment at the airport is considered among the priorities with respect to the work programs of (Civil Aviation) and also the country’s development plan. The contract was signed on the Kuwaiti side by the H.E. President of Civil Aviation Sheikh Salman Sabah Salem Al-Homoud Al-Sabah, while on the Dutch side by the Chief Executive Officer of Dernes Jean-Karel Mak Company. Founded in 1928, Dernes is an independent engineering company with nearly 600 professionals distributed amongst offices in the Netherlands, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, United Kingdom, United Arab Emirates, Brazil and United States.
