Kuwait Participates in the Meetings of the 34th Session of the Permanent Committee for Meteorology at the Headquarters of the Arab States League in Cairo
Presided over by the Deputy Director General for Air Navigation Services at the Directorate General for Civil Aviation & Permanent Representative of Kuwait with World Meteorology Organization - Khaled Mubarak Al-Shuaibi, the Meteorological Department participates in the meetings of the 34th Session of the Arab Permanent Committee for Meteorology at the Headquarters of the Arab States League in Cairo – Arab Republic of Egypt, during the period from 22nd to 24th April 2018. This session discusses enhancing the meteorological services rendered to Air-Navigation and Aviation Safety, as well as the standards and regulations issued by the World Meteorology Organization and the International Civil Aviation Organization, and in particular the quality management system, and the development and modernization of infrastructure for the Monitoring Stations and Weather Forecast Stations operating at airports as well as building the capability of the staff working in them. The delegation of Kuwait called for responding to the demands for generating improved systems, information and products to be provided by the Aeronautical Meteorological services as an integral part of improving the performance Meteorological services so as to be able to achieve a more secured and effective air-transport system on the international level. The meetings also follow up the programs of managing the weather and climate information as well as the policies of reducing the risk of disasters related to climate and extreme weather phenomena, in addition to following up the action plans for developing the media of the Arabian meteorological facilities and their role in raising awareness about meteorological sciences through school curriculum, media and various social networks. The State of Kuwait proposed to hold an event to highlight the role of the Permanent Committee for Meteorology and the Arab meteorological facilities, same as celebrating the World Meteorological Day. The activities of this committee aim at preparing a draft resolution to be submitted to the Council’s Executive Office, and which will be presented among the work agenda for the second session of the Council of Arab Ministers in charge of meteorology and climate affairs, to be held on Thursday 26th April 2018.
