Higher Committee for Restarting the Commercial Flight at Kuwait International Airport Holds its First Meeting
The Higher Committee for Restarting the Commercial Flights at Kuwait International Airport, chaired by the H.E. President of Civil Aviation Sheikh/ Salman Sabah Al-Salem Al-Homoud Al-Sabah, discussed today (Thursday) the plan for gradual restart of commercial aviation at Kuwait International Airport together with all its requirements in accordance with international laws and directives regulating the same that are related to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the other international organizations, in light of COVID-19 pandemic. The Chairman of the Higher Committee - Sheikh/ Salman Al-Homoud Al-Sabah, said after the meeting that the committee will adopt the suggestions submitted by the relevant authorities with respect to the gradual restart, as well as the airline companies and the ground-services companies regarding the preparations to support restarting the air-transport sector in accordance with the approved plan. Sheikh/ Salman Al-Sabah added that among the tasks of the Higher Committee is to adopt a plan to restart operations of Kuwait International Airport in light of COVID-19 pandemic as well as all its requirements, and submit such plan to the competent authorities, in accordance with the international laws issued by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and other relevant international organizations (International Air-Transport Association, International Airports Council, Arab Civil Aviation Organization, World Health Organization, European Civil Aviation Organization, US. Federal Authorities .. etc.) in addition to the laws and regulations issued by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, and the decisions issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Health and the General Department for Customs that are related to confronting COVID-19 pandemic. He stated that the Higher Committee will assume supervision of implementing the approved restart plan in a manner that meets the standard rules and recommended work methods as well as the health and security measures adopted internationally and locally, in addition to assessing their effectiveness in line with the international requirements necessary to confront COVID-19 pandemic. In addition to reviewing and approving the recommendations of supporting the civil aviation sector as well as the relevant parties affected by COVID-19 pandemic. The Higher Committee includes in its membership the Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Protocol Affairs - Mr./ Dhari Al-Ajran, the Assistant Undersecretary of Ministry of Interior for Ports Security Affairs - Major General/ Mansour Al-Awadi, the Secretary-General of Higher Council for Planning and Development - Dr./ Khaled Al-Mahdi, the Assistant Undersecretary of Ministry of Health - Dr./ Buthayna Al-Mudhaf, the Director-General of General Department for Customs – Mr./ Jamal Al-Jallawi, the Controller of Budget affairs at the Ministry of Finance, and representatives from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation.
