17% passengers increase at kuwait international airport for 2017

The General Administration of Civil Aviation announced on Tuesday that passenger traffic at Kuwait International Airport increased by 17 percent last year with a total passenger volume of 13.7 million compared to 11.7 passengers in 2016. "The incoming passenger traffic is about 6.8 million passengers in 2017 compared to 5.9 million passengers in 2016," Deputy Director-General for Aviation Safety and Air Transport and the Safety Systems Coordination Center at the Department, Emad Al-Jalawi, told KUNA. Jalawi said passenger traffic was about 6.8 million passengers in 2017 compared to 5.8 million passengers in 2016. He explained that the total number of flights operated from and to Kuwait International Airport last year reached 111.6 thousand flights compared to 104.1 thousand trips in 2016, adding that the number of commercial flights coming and departure was about 106.3 compared to 98 thousand trips. The cargo traffic at Kuwait International Airport in 2017 amounted to 241.6 million kg compared to 2016, with total movement of 195.5 million kg. Cargo traffic in 2017 was 185.3 million kg, compared to 161.4 million kg in the same period of 2016, while freight traffic was 56.3 million kg in 2017 compared to 34 million kg in 2016
